Explore a life-sized (45 foot!) humpback whale, inside and out, to learn more about these marvelous marine mammals that share our waters as well as the important research underway at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
From year-round residents to seasonal visitors, there are as many as 20 different whale species that can be found off Florida’s coast. Among them is the humpback whale, which is the most abundant whale in the Atlantic Ocean. These whales travel close to shore and can even be spotted from land!
During the debut of this unique exhibit, FAU Harbor Branch educators and scientists will be available to share information about humpback whales, show props and videos of research, answers questions, and even guide visitors inside to take a peek at the whale's internal anatomy!
