SOUTH FLORIDA FAIR'S YOUTH PULLET PROJECT

Join in the fun and experience of raising and showing pullets as part of the South Florida Fair’s youth livestock program. The program engages youth in learning life skills while having fun raising chickens. Exhibitors should start chicks in a brooder (warm and protective environment) and move them into a coop as they get older. Exhibitors should also keep pullets safe from adverse weather events, pets and predators.

Reservations are closed for the 2025 Fair. Pullet program ages are 5-18 years old. Age groups are: Pee Wee: 5-7 years old; Junior: 8-11 years old; Intermediate: 12-14 years old; Senior: 15-18 years old. Ethics training and numbers are not required for 5-7 year olds, only for 8-18 year old exhibitors.

Expectations, Requirements of Exhibitors, and Important Dates:
  • Exhibitor’s reservation for the pullet chicks is NOT your Fair entry to exhibit, show or sell at the South Florida Fair and the Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction. Exhibitors must enter their pullet projects via ShoWorks at www.thesouthfloridafair.com, September 3-30 by 11:59 p.m.
  • All pullets must be entered on-line via ShoWorks. Consult the Fair’s website for entering details. No late, no paper, no day-of entries accepted. Entries are open from September 3-30, 2024 until 11:59 p.m.
  • Exhibitors in the Fair’s pullet project show must consist of three pullets as purchased through the Fair’s Pullet Program.
  • Exhibitors can only sell one or the other in the auction: 1 market steer, 1 market hog OR 1 set of pullets (3 to a set).
  • Exhibitors wanting to sell one set of pullets in the Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction at the South Florida Fair must make declaration to do so with the Poultry Show Chairperson at check-in on January 16, 2025.
  • Exhibitors must complete the Pullet Project Record Book, which will be distributed on pick up date (June 1, 2024). Those choosing to sell their project in the Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction must turn in their completed record book to the Poultry Show Chairman within 30 minutes of the pullet portion at the auction conclusion, detailing the market auction price and buyer(s) name.
  • Exhibitors must upload items: W-9, a sample buyers invitation, thank you letter, and buyers contact form with the names and complete address of five buyers, two of which are new buyers to the South Florida Fair. BUYER CONTACT FORM VIA GOOGLE DOCS must be submitted from Sept. 3 - 30. by 11:59 p.m.
  • All exhibitors selling in the Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction are deducted 5 percent from the total auction price, $25 photo/plaque fee; $20 for the virtual on-line bidding component.
  • NEW: Exhibitors in this program must participate in the mandatory poster project.

Important Dates:
  • Pullet project reservation deadline: May 24, 2024 before 11:59 p.m.
    • Note: This reservation is NOT the exhibitor’s entry to show/exhibit or sell at the South Florida Fair. Exhibitors must enter their pullet projects via ShoWorks at www.thesouthfloridafair.com, September 3-30 by 11:59 p.m.
  • June 1, 2024 - 9 a.m. - 12 Noon - Pullet and record book pick-up at the Farm Credit Show Arena, South Florida Fairgrounds.
  • January 16, 2025: 2-6 p.m. - Check-in and Record Book submission
  • TBD: Judging
  • January 16, 2025: Participants must decide if keeping or selling in the Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction
  • January 18, 2025: Sell-a-Bration Youth Livestock Market Auction
    • Exhibitors selling in the Sell-a-Bration Youth Livestock Market Auction must turn in their completed record book within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the pullet portion of the auction, including the sale price to the buyer.
  • Buyer's Invitation Letter and Thank You Letter
    • Exhibitors must upload items: W-9, a sample buyers invitation and thank you letter, and buyers contact form with the names and complete address of five buyers, two of which are new buyers to the South Florida Fair by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 30 to: https://rb.gy/6m7gxs
  • NEW: PULLET EXHIBITORS MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE MANDATORY POSTER PROJECT
  • On-line entries: accepted September 3-30, 2024, no late, no paper, no day-of entries accepted. Deadline is 11:59 p.m., September 30 via ShoWorks at www.southfloridafair.com
  • Mandatory Work Days: December 14, 2024; January 4 & 11, 2025, 9 a.m - 2 p.m. Exhibitors must sign in and out with a Fair AGriBusiness staff member.
  • Fair pullet project check-in: January 16, 2025, 2 - 6 p.m.

  • PLEASE NOTE: All exhibitors selling in the Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction are deducted $25 photography/ plaque fee, $20 for the virtual on-line bidding component.

  • The Sell-a-Bration of Champions Youth Livestock Market Auction is in the Farm Credit Show Arena on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 3 p.m.

AG Camping Request Form

On-line CAMPING reservations via the completion of the AG Camping Request Form for the 2025 South Florida Fair’s AGriBusiness Department opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

This request form must be submitted on-line ONLY. This submission does not confirm your reservation request. Requests considerations/approvals are based on first come, first served basis; number of available camping sites; date; and size of camping/RV unit.

Please complete the Camping Request Form at this link. If this request is approved, you will be notified via e-mail and provided a credit card payment link. Payment in full is required to confirm your reservation.
