GIRL SCOUT COOKIE EATING CONTEST

1 of 8

JANUARY 25

11:30 AM

What is the secret to eating 24 cookies in less than 3 minutes, without using your hands (or going into sugar shock or just crying?)

“Eat fast.” says Brian Shenkman, defending champion of the Girl Scout Cookie Eating Contest.

And it is with that simple but undeniable philosophy that Shenkman, 48, who runs the Bulk Candy Store located near the Fairgrounds, faced down 11 steely-eyed and sure-stomached competitors early this year to take home the title of fastest cookie eater — as well as a full case of Girl Scout Cookies — after winning the competition for the third consecutive year.

“It took me four seconds longer this year,” explained a triumphant Shenkman, of Lake Worth, who polished off three of each of the eight varieties of cookies, including the new Rah-Rah Raisins and the gluten-free Toffee-tastic, in 2 minutes, 50 seconds. His primary motivation, other than having fun, was to win the complete Girl Scout Cookie collection for the family (“The wife likes ‘em.”)

Excerpt from Leslie Streeter's article in The Palm Beach Post.
