The Gem and Mineral Society of the Palm Beaches offers activities to anyone interested in rocks, minerals, fossils and the lapidary arts. Our club holds monthly membership meetings that feature guest lecturers as well as club members speaking about their activities. The club also has a workshop where members can learn how to cut slabs with a rock saw, create and polish cabochons, facet gem stones and make jewelry using techniques such as wire wrapping, cold connections and silver smithing. Our members do public outreach by participating in activities at local museums and schools. The club’s most important event is our annual gem and mineral show. Now in its 57th year, it’s always in November the weekend before Thanksgiving at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, FL.
