2022 FAIR UPDATES

CORONAVIRUS

We did not make the decision to hold the Fair during the pandemic lightly. As you know, our world was really on the way back to “normal” in the fall and there was no indication things would get worse with the virus. We went full steam ahead with Fair planning and secured our entertainment, exposition exhibits, stages, sound, lights, tents, and all the other things that we need to do to produce the Fair. Our commitment to our partners was in place. Today, things are different, but unlike the past, events are still being held. Football stadiums have been filled. Restaurants are open. Life, as we know it, is “open for business.”

We will do things as safely as possible and we highly recommend when you come to the Fair, you wear a mask. However, we cannot force people to wear a mask.

OUR VENDORS AND CONCESSIONAIRES

Each year vendors at the Fair must reapply to be onsite for the next year. I am happy to say that 99% of your favorite vendors will be with us and you will also have the chance to sample some new Fair foods.

Our vendors are highly professional and there is seldom a question about coming back, but on rare occasions, a vendor is not invited to return. The reasons for this vary. We are grateful for all our professional vendors and concessionaires who are fully supportive of our Fair and what is required of them to participate at the Fair.

PARKING

Parking can be a challenge at the Fairgrounds so we have reinstated the FREE parking shuttle at the Mall at Wellington Green on the busiest days – Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can park at the mall, get your admission and ride tickets there, get security screened and be dropped off inside the gates so there is NO waiting in line! The shuttle bus runs every 15-20 minutes.

The production cost for the Fair has definitely been impacted by inflation. The challenge with the supply chain, the increase in labor costs, oil and fuel costs, equipment rental costs and so much more resulted in the decision for paid parking on the Fairgrounds. Instead of increasing individual ticket prices, which would have a bigger impact on families, we implemented the $10 parking fee per vehicle. Because of this decision, we are still able to offer you the same quality of entertainment, theater performances, strolling acts, the themed Exposition, our Livestock and Agriculture area, Yesteryear Village and everything else you have come to expect at the Fair each year. Paid parking is not a new thing at events. It is just new at the Fair. There is a parking fee at theme parks, sporting events and even at the beach.

Be Advised!

The South Florida Fair will be implementing new measures on the event’s final Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28 and 29. These proactive procedures come in the wake of the number of unsupervised minors roaming the fairgrounds on the busiest nights of the fair.

The new policy will be implemented on January 28 and 29 only starting at 8:30 p.m., as follows:

All guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. ID will be required.

• In addition to the gate admission, all guests ages 6 to 17 years old must purchase a ride wristband.

This does not apply to advance ticket holders.

We hope the above explanation helps clarify the need for some of the decisions we have made this year. The South Florida Fair is YOUR Fair and we want to be able to give you and your family a place to enjoy and make memories for years to come.

Thanks for your support!
