General Rules & Regulations - All Exhibitors

1. The South Florida Fair believes that every youth exhibitor should receive proper training and information for raising and showing a youth animal project. It is important that the exhibitor understand: The purpose and importance of ethics in youth livestock projects, proper animal handling and management and the difference between animal welfare and animal rights. The MANDATORY Youth Livestock Show Ethics and Animal Care Workshop is designed to certify students to meet these requirements. Certification is valid for a 3 year period if taken in 2008. This program has been endorsed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the University of Florida, IFAS.
2. Exhibitors cannot be under the age of 8 or over the age of 18 as of January 1st, 2008. Exhibitors must, alsobe attending school or be enrolled in a certified home school program. Exhibitors who have graduated from high school or obtained their high school G.E.D. are not eligible.
3. All cattle over 6 months old or horns over 2" in length must have horns removed.
4. Animals must be shown in their respective age classes and be exhibited accordingly in their classes by age. Animal teeth may be checked for age at the discretion of the superintendent.
5. All grade animals must be worthy of the breed they represent and the committee reserves the right to refuse entry of animals that do not meet these standards.
6. Youth exhibitors will be permitted to exhibit no more than two (2) animals per class.
7. The owner is to see that his animal is fed, cleaned, etc. for the duration of the Fair. If not there will be a $15.00 per day charge.
8. It is strongly recommended that all animals be immunized for blackleg, malignant edema, shipping fever, the IBR Arena and the BVD Arena 30 days prior to the Fair date.
9. All animals must have suitable halter and DOUBLE tie before they will be admitted to show area and must be halter broken to be exhibited by owner.
10. All registered animals must have been transferred to the owner and exhibitor at least SIXTY (60) days prior to the show.
11. Neither the local interests participating in the sponsorship of the show, nor any of the personnel shall be responsible for any accidents or errors that may occur. However, every effort will be made to provide for the safety and comfort of the guests and their cattle.
12. Tampering with any animal entered, such as injecting with a foreign substance, etc. is prohibited. The use of tranquilizers on show animals after arrival at the Fair will be construed as a form of tampering.
13. Beef cattle must be in the barn by 4:00 P.M. on check-in days.
14. YOUTH BEEF CATTLE WILL BE RELEASED BY BARN SUPERINTENDENT
15. Youth exhibitors must show their animals except as in Rule #6.

Angus, Brangus, Brahman, Limousin, Pinzgauer, Polled Hereford, Santa Gertrudis and Shorthorn will show under Open Classes. Any breed including all commercial animals having shown less than 8 head will show in one Show called ALL OTHER BREEDS (using classes listed above).
